We’ve been attending this competition for years, and it continues to be our absolute favorite every single season. The organization, the energy, and the genuine care for the dancers make it such a special experience. Our team always leaves feeling inspired, supported, and proud. We truly look forward to it every year—thank you for consistently creating such an incredible environment!

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with how my dancer’s entry was handled at your recent Fort Lauderdale event. While I understand that your rules state dancers may be automatically bumped to the next level based on score, your rules do not state that this will occur anonymously or without notice to the paying customer. When studio owners are paying nearly $200 for a single 2 minute and 30 second solo, the absolute minimum expectation is transparency and communication when a dancer’s competitive level is changed. In this case, my dancer received a 285, which is exactly the borderline between the Novice and Intermediate categories. Had she received one point less, she would have remained in Novice and would have placed in the Top 10. Instead, she was quietly moved to Intermediate without warning and forced to compete against dancers who legitimately train and compete at that level. The predictable outcome was that those dancers received higher scores, effectively eliminating my dancer’s opportunity to place. What makes this situation particularly unacceptable is that no notification, warning, or transparency was provided whatsoever. A simple courtesy notice informing studios that a dancer had been automatically moved up would have prevented this entire issue. Instead, the decision was made behind the scenes, leaving paying participants to discover the consequences only after the fact. To be perfectly clear, the issue here is not the rule itself. The issue is the complete lack of transparency and fairness in how it was applied. When decisions that materially affect a dancer’s placement are made without communication, it raises serious concerns about the integrity of the competition and how those decisions are being implemented. I have been involved in the competition world for many years and have attended countless events across multiple organizations. I can say without hesitation that this has been one of the most unfair and frustrating competition experiences I have ever encountered. Furthermore, if there are any disagreements or criticisms directed toward studio owners, those issues should never be taken out on the dancers. The dancers are the ones who invest their time, energy, and heart into performing, and they should never be placed in a position where they suffer the consequences of administrative decisions or internal frustrations.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. As mentioned during our phone conversation, the situation you referenced was the result of a novice-level dancer qualifying to be bumped, by score, into the intermediate level. Our bump level guidelines are published and apply equally to every studio and dancer. When an entry scores beyond its level, our tabulation system automatically bumps the level to maintain fairness for all competitors. This is a standard process and part of protecting the integrity of the competition. During our call, you acknowledged that you had not reviewed the rules prior to registering the routine. While we understand that oversights can happen, the rules are in place so that all participants are competing in the appropriate divisions. We stand by the fairness and transparency of our process and encourage all studio directors to review the event rules prior to competing.

We attended Precision Arts in Louisville, KY, Mar 7-9, 2025. Our studio had a blast! One of our soloists was chosen for a PAC Attack, which was so exciting. She loved being able to do the improv and receive her banner. We are a smaller competition team and felt like we were recognized. We also felt that the judging was fair and all of the studios there were so nice. We are planning on attending regionals again next year and possibly nationals!

Judges all were dancing and smiling with the kids! Loved all of them! The feedback was very useful. Thank you to PAC Louisville judges! We need to normalize trophies or plaques for adjudication. These babies work so hard all year and to just be given a pin unless you place is a let down. My daughter placed and received a plaque but I felt bad for other kiddos. Someone needs to audit these studio entries somehow. It is getting out of hand across the board. If the audience sees the difference so should the competition. It is to the dancers benefit to be moved up if they are placed incorrectly. Lastly, and this is not PAC’s fault…keep the food vendors open until awards. We were in the middle of Downtown with no fast food nearby. Yes we bring snacks. :)

Sound, Stage, Lighting were EXCELLENT!! Entirely too many breaks!! Awards were way too long and the nicest thing given out was pins. PAC ATTACK makes no sense because you are literally doing the same dance for the same judges for groups and for solos you improv but then everyone gets the same banner? I had multiple kiddos in wheelchairs so we couldn't access the dressing room we were given due to stairs. Merchandise was kind of lacking and only one tiny place to take photos. At the end of the day the kids had a blast and that's all that matters but wanted to give honest feedback. Staff was okay but not super outgoing or interactive. Photos, Videos, Critiques FANTASTIC!!!

All around one of the best competitions we have ever been too. From the stage, lighting, music, awards, staff, director , judging panel. Everything was great! The director treated us like actual humans and you could tell she really cared about the kids and each studio! We will defiantly be back next season , without a doubt & maybe even nationals. We had an amazing experience and highly recommend !

I'm the studio director of an adapted dance program and we just competed in Cleveland, Ohio this weekend. We brought three dances - two groups and one soloist - and I would HIGHLY recommend this competition to other studios who have neurodiverse and disabled dancers. We are a unique registration where our peer models actually compete with a different studio and also compete under our studio name, which I know took some manual work behind the scenes for their enrollment process. The administrative staff was very helpful in explaining various options on how our dancers could be recognized and adjudicated, but ultimately it was my decision as the studio director to register them in the "premier" and not the "advanced" category. My dancers, their families and I knew that they would be receiving judges feedback, but not a numerical score or placement in the scoring system. Yes, we paid the full amount to be a part of the competition and think that is only fair as we used the facilities, took our designated time on the stage and went home with proper recognition for our performance. However, I can't speak highly enough about the amount of respect, dignity and inclusion that the event staff gave our dancers. They were attentive to our sensory needs from the dressing rooms, to the PAC Attack selection process and award ceremony. When I started my company over 10 years ago, the competition world wasn't appropriate for adapted dancers and wasn't even considered. I commend PAC for their inclusiveness and think that this teaches everyone how to respect and honor each others' differences and abilities. We just love to dance and I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity for my dancers to share their joy of dance on the PAC stage. Thank you!!!

So, this is our first year here and only 2nd year dancing, so we are fairly new. But even a newbie could see the issues. Whew! After 2 days we realized that the first 20 or so dances would all get gold with a silver or a few platinums sprinkled in. Then the last part would receive all platinums and crystal. I'm not sure if it's because the first half was a lower level. But if so, wouldn't you judge the lower level against themselves and not against the higher levels? I don't know. It just didn't make any sense, again newbie here but it just seemed odd that there seemed to be a pattern that repeated every session. They take a lot of costume breaks....lots.... which drags the day and night out. The music was extremely loud. The set up was very inconvenient. The wings are not deep and the stage was small. The lights weren't on at the back of the stage during some of the performances. It just seemed like it wasn't very well put together. We just didn't enjoy this dance comp at all. We won't go back.

One of our beginner dancers gave a great performance. Her performance quality was the best she's done all season, but her technique was truly beginner-level. Given the beginner criteria on the Precision Arts Challenge website, she was perfectly suited for the advanced category, which is for the beginner level. During judging she was awarded a "crystal" adjudication, which is not available for beginners, and received no overall placement in the beginner category. We were shocked. After judging, we asked the competition director how this could be and this conversation was wholly unhelpful. We then had to track down the competition director's assistant, who told us the judges had moved her up a level because she "scored too high". This dance had no tricks, no turns, no flips, and no complex jumps. It was not an intermidiate (competitive) level dance. So instead of scoring first in the beginner category, the dance was then moved up and did not place in the intermediate category. It was utterly ridiculous and the dancer was devastated. We followed every rule of the competition, and she gave a good performance. Additionally, the beginner category did a "Top 9" for overalls, which is odd. This was a terrible experience for this dancer. We are a smaller studio, and she was the only one from our studio in this category. She was utterly humiliated. Our studio director is currently attempting to contact PAC to get our dancer her first place trophy.

Dance Expressions had a great time. The communication was fabulous. I felt for having 70ish acts there, that the ratings were varied and the Precision Award was saved for the very highest caliber routines as it should be. We had plenty of PAC attack call backs and challenges. We appreciated the time to change with the quick changes. This circuit is one of my kids favorites.

Hats off to Precision Arts Challenge! My daughter had a great time competing in Detroit. I was very impressed that despite losing power for almost 2 hours, the staff got things up and running smoothly for the rest of the night and the judges still had tons of energy! We loved watching the PAC Attack and the reactions of the dancers when they heard the sirens. As I was waiting for my daughter to finish packing her stuff, I watched the judges leaving the competition and was so impressed that they took the time to talk to the kids that were in the hallway and tell them what a great job they did. Those kids were on cloud nine, like they just met celebrities! Thank you for the great weekend, Precision!

Might be decent for beginners, but don’t bother if your dancer is in the pre-professional level. They have a really confusing scoring system. At the top, they have a “coveted” Precision adjudication that only pre-professional can get, but they barely give it to anyone. Like maybe 2-3 soloists all weekend across all studios and 1 or 2 groups total. It didn’t used to be like this, but it has been for the last 3 years now. Not sure why they even have the category if they don’t award it. The low scoring has to be intentional because the Precision is for acts scoring 285-300, so it’s not like it’s a narrow range. Judges don’t give any reason when they give such low scores and the judging is all over the place. One judge will score an act in the highest adjudication level and another one puts it in the 5th level down. It’s a joke. One of our soloists had one judge that scored her routine a full 12 points lower than either of the other 2 judges for no apparent reason. PAC attack is maybe cool for groups, but it has gone downhill, especially for soloists. It used to be given to more soloists and to the ones who really deserved it due to a great performance. Now they only give 9 PAC callbacks for each age total (all 3 competitive levels combined.) They give maybe 2 to girls with great performances and the other 7 are to dancers who fall down or forget their dance, etc. It is very discouraging to the dancers that perform well when they don’t get the PAC attack. So it is just doing more harm than good at this point. For groups, they seem to equate twerking with PAC attack. So I’m not sure it’s even a compliment to the routine anymore. It bothers me that they don’t even give a certificate to girls who place in the overalls. I think maybe 1-5 gets a plaque but 6-10 just gets announced and leaves empty handed. So most don’t even remember what place they were once they sit down. We have danced in this comp for 7 years but can’t justify going back again when dancers aren’t judged fairly and everyone leaves feeling discouraged. We will miss what it used to be…

This was our first time competing at this competition. We have competed at several other competitions. Staff was absolutely amazing and super friendly. We have gotten judges awards at other competition, one thing I loved was the judges came on stage and gave the awards down side the award was on paper. I like how other competitions give out ribbons and judges award pins. I didn't like that 5 through 10 didn't get a plaque when they came up. Overall it was amazing competition and we will love to try it again.

Pros: Very cool stage backdrop and high quality audio. Dance competition ran exactly on time. Judges awards were clear and to the point. Nice award hardware. Pretty good judging overall. Cons: PAC attack. On paper this sounds like a fun and cool idea but it ended up being disheartening to many dancers. No matter how well you danced if you didn't get a pac attack then you left the stage feeling defeated. Soloists from any genre of dance could get a pac attack but we noticed groups either had to be hip hop or jazz in order to get a pac attack. Pac attack is entertaining for the audience but a negative for the dancers in general because the vast majority will not get one and feel disappointed after their dance (even if they rocked it!!!!) Other con: the merchandise lady at our event wasn't very friendly

The staff at Precision Arts could not be more friendly and helpful. They were so great to work with. However, our city where the competition was held does have limited venues. We will not be attending any events in the future that are held at the venue the PAC competition was just held. The cost is too high for parking and vehicles are required to pay every time they enter. This along with the strict regulation of no outside food or drink can be brought in and the high prices of limited and unhealthy concessions, makes it for a very frustrating weekend. As far as the competition itself, we would love to see judges awards (which our dancer received) completely revolve around dance/performance standouts. Ex: technique, choreography, precision, performance, etc. As opposed to the "smile award" for someone who smiled during their performance, etc. But over all we were definitely pleased with the competition itself.
